Well, if he's not wrong, and the O's have a good year, and Correa has a good year, and the O's look like they're ready to compete, then maybe Correa opts out and ends up here next year.

Really bad move on Correa's part if the offer was made. The Orioles are really only a year away from being competitive, IMO.

Wow, that's crazy.  I think this adds credence to his report.  By namedropping Lopez, instead of saying "unnamed source with Orioles said..." I find it more believable.  What a huge turn that would've been.

Mark Teixeria was supposedly seen at a Ravens game and was also working on a deal with the Orioles.Also was spotted at the railroad station and a grassy knoll outside of Camden Yards.I think the Orioles never made him an offer.

I love the idea of getting an established player in the infield and letting Henderson, Westburg, Mayo or whoever else fight over the other two spots. It’s not like the system is overflowing with good infield prospects. Count me as one who hopes Correa opts out next offseason

By the end of the year, Westburg should be in the majors and Henderson should be knocking at the door.  I wouldn't be surprised if Cowser is close to ready by then too.  Let's see what we have and then fill in around those players.  I think the O's are going to have to spend a good amount on starting pitchers, so the less they spend on position players the better.  Nothing wrong with getting an elite free agent position player, but this franchise will always have payroll limitations and I think they will be more stringent with this ownership group.  The O's don't want to end up like the Phillies, barely reaching .500 and running out of money.  The Phillies luxury tax sits at $236 million, which I never expect the O's to approach.
