Where do we think Cowser and Westburg settle in offensively?

Colton Cowser (.373/.411/.784) and Jordan Westburg (.333/.392/.692) are both on a tremendous roll right now, but where do you see them settling in?

Cowser was a .298/.420/.489 hitter as a minor leaguer, including .280/.399/.498 in AAA.   His cumulative major league numbers are .232/.338/.438.

Westburg was a .278/.371/.506 hitter as a minor leaguer, including .283/.366/.533 in AAA.   His cumulative major league numbers are .279/.332/.464.

My best guess is that Cowser settles in around .285/.375/.485, while Westburg is something like .275/.350/.485.   And honestly, that would be pretty amazing.

Those are the numbers that came to my mind. That is pretty aggressive OPS numbers when you add them up.

Cowser HR distances: 438, 357, 415, 422, 430.

Westburg HR distances: 369, 432, 400, 404, 433.

These guys don’t hit many cheapies.

The best part about their swings and I’ll add in Gunnar too. They do not sell out for power. There head is always quiet and on the ball. I was always taught when you don’t try to hit homeruns they come.

I think projecting an OBP above and/or near Adley's career mark is pretty generous. I just don't really see them as those kind of hitters. But I'd certainly love that!

Do you mean for this year or that’s your every year expectation?

I have no idea but I’m enjoying the ride.  Westburg seems like the better bet to sustain.  Cowser seems like he has more holes and weaknesses.  Always worry about the pitchers adjusting.

I've been on the Westburg bandwagon since him and Gunnar showed up at Delmarva. All of them were in and out of low A so fast that it's hard to remember now, but Westburg left a pretty good impression there.

Westburg I believe will be a fairly consistent.825-.850 guy. Because of his style of play, I don't think his valleys will be as low as some others.

Cowser is another guy that could consistently be in the.825+ range, but I think he's going to have periods of frustrating the fans. On the other hand, when he's on it's going to be awesome like it was recently...not that he's been bad lately either.

I’m thinking more about about their average performance over the next 5-6 years while under team control.

Unless my math is off, that’s an .860 OPS for Cowser and .835 for Westburg. I’d take that any day. I think it’s doable too.

Cowser for ROY!
