Are there words to describe this feat?

Nope, now we?re sure ... Manny Machado can in fact do everything. https://t.co/13BDcJLUql pic.twitter.com/rWhcKL7BNk
? I got into an argument with some guy on IG the other day. MLB posted this and this guy claimed that donaldson>machado. I still struggle with this notion and that there are people in this world who deny manny that honor of being the best at his position in the bigs.

From Roch and Buck:

“I don’t ever take it for granted, what he’s doing. He spoils us with a great level of play and unfortunately sometimes I think we’re all guilty of it. When he makes some of the plays that he makes that nobody else makes and he does some of the things offensively that very few people do, all of a sudden if he doesn’t do it every time, he almost spoils you with the level of play. But it’s so hard to do what he does and I don’t ever take that for granted, what he’s doing at a young age and whether it’s an old age.

“He’s been very durable. He posts up and he likes to play baseball and he likes to play with his teammates. He had a big blow for us tonight.”

You can definitely make the argument that Donaldson or Bryant is better overall. Defensively, I don't think there's a serious argument that anyone other than Arenado is in Manny's universe.

That's what I gave the guy. If you look at offensive numbers, donaldson has the edge, currently. He's been in the league longer, and he's had more plate attempts, partly due to Manny's knees. But I said from a defensive standpoint, yes donaldson may be good, but he ain't manny good nor will he ever be. He's 6 years older and we've yet to see Manny's ceiling, and I doubt we will for quite some time.

You struggle to see how a guy who might win back to back MVPs would be considered the best at his position?

Yes I do. When I think position, I think defense. Not only is it not there for donaldson with the eye test, I don't feel like he has the numbers to back it up either...defensively that is.

Let's be real, Altuve is taking the MVP this year anyway. [emoji3]

While there's a good chance Manny hasn't hit his peak, you never know. Look at Nick Markakis, who maxed out in his age 24 season.

El Toro had this to say about Manny:

“It’s been a pleasure and an honor to play alongside him,” Alvarez said. “The scary part is, this is a guy who hasn’t even reached his peak yet. He still has a lot to continue to grow and learn as a player. I’m excited to see how he continues to flourish. Been a lot of fun to watch this year.”
