What if Lowther is ready?

Because we need to have thread after thread where we wonder what if someone is ready but they don't bring him up at the exact moment  he is ready.  (How does that work, is there a little popup thermometer you can stick in someone like a turkey?)

Then we can preemptively bemoan the terrible hypothetical injustice that may or may  not occur when someone, somewhere, is kept in the minors too long.

Prospect pop up thermometer! :D lol   That would be awesome though!

I'd like to see Lowther and Baumann dominate AAA for a time and then come up for good. I hate to see the shuttle back and forth, at least for the top prospects.

If Baumann is healthy, I think we see both of them by the second half of the season.

Unfortunately, I think this is the type of production people think needs to happen.

I'd like to see above average performance for a AAA starting pitcher.   It's a little hard to define that given that the average International League ERA was 3.84 in 2018 and then 4.90 in 2019.   Nobody knows what it'll be in 2021.   And obviously ERA is not the only criterion.   Looking at Akin, he had an ERA below league average, K/9 above league average, and allowed fewer than 1 hit per inning.    Really the only ding on him was his walk rate, which led to a lot of 5 inning outings.    I think an equivalent-type* performance from Lowther, Baumann or Wells would warrant a mid- or late season call-up.    I'd want to see something better than that to call any of them up sooner.

* When I say equivalent-type, I don't mean the elements all need to look close to the same.   I'd expect Baumann to walk and strike out significantly more batters than Wells, for example.   But both could perform well enough pitching to their own strengths to reach the majors
