Hank Peters has passed away at age 90

The last Orioles GM to win the World Series has died at age 90.

Giordano, 89, visited Peters last week at Boca Raton Regional Hospital and said they talked of old times for almost an hour.

"He was weak but responsive," Giordano said. "Then Hank said, 'I am ready to go.' He had made up his mind and, just like at work, nobody could change it.

He had a big part of the Orioles' winning tradition. RIP.

He ran a model franchise in the pre-free agency era. None better.

Didn't adjust to the new realities of free agency very well, but in the 1970s under Peters we were by far the best run organization in baseball.

RIP Hank Peters. As a boy, I remember warm summer nights listening to Chuck Thompson and Bill O'Donnell describe the good job that Hank was doing at getting Earl players and being able to compete against the Yanks. They are all gone now, but live on in my memories.
