Britton and Brach are both way more valuable then Phelps. Britton especially

But it also needs to be pointed out that Britton is way more expensive. Britton makes 11.4 million. Phelps makes 4.6 milion. Now a team desperate for WS like the Dodgers may not care too much but in most deals you have to think about the value/cost ratio.

Come on, Britton is an elite RP and one of the best closers in the game. It's not even close. He will command a haul or we won't deal him. He won't be dealt for a package even close to this lol. Think some of you are overthinking it.

Little worried about Brach as Phelps is relatively close to his territory, but honestly I don't think this package is bad. If we could have got Neidert instead of Hernandez (although I would have been cool with Hernandez and maybe one other solid guy like maybe Joe Rizzo I would have been very happy.

Miller looks to me like he should be a very solid #4. That's not exciting but we haven't had good back of rotation arms in forever. Not always going to get future aces in these deals, there's no exactly many that project that way unless yo uare getting an 18 yr old that is basically a blank canvas with high velocity and nasty stuff at times.

It's a year an a half with a stairway to heaven twice.

David Phelps isn't as good as Brach let alone Britton.  Orioles will get a nice haul for either if they choose to sell.

I do expect both of them to haul in more, in Britton's case, quite a bit, more than than Phelps no question. However, based on the trades for Phelps, Frazier/Kahnle/Robertson and Martinez the returns have been fairly underwhelming in general so far. The Quintana deal has been the only one where the team dealing got a really nice return out of it.

Dodgers, Cubs, Nats don't give a hoot about a contract like Brittons.

Wow is that terribly underwhelming. Not a single guy in the top 10 of a poor system. Time to temper those expectations.

Hernandez would be in the 8-12 range for our system, Lopez would be a 10-15 guy (he's had a strong A+ season, arguable better than Akin at the same age), Miller and Schraldi are old for their level but have had good preformance, they'd be top 30 guys for us.

So no big impact prospect, but two very solid players.  I'd hope to get a little more from Brach (and he is a little better/cheaper), probably quality over quantity, but this isn't a nothing return.

I hope we can deal for a new team in the booth. The only duo worse than ours is the Nats tandem of idiots. There is nothing worse than listening to fp santangelo. Bordick gets worse by the game though. His stiffler impersonation ("oh yeah" or "yeah" randomly tossed into every sentence) is ?.

Replace Bordy with Brian Roberts, he did some spring training games and he is much better.

I was trying desperately to not participate in hijacking this thread into a broadcasters thread. Clearly I failed, I could care less who is in the booth. As long as they give our the basic details, count, outs, runners on base etc... that's all I need. Now back to the OP reason for this thread.

For sure oh yeah! That's excellent. Maybe a sign that good things are ahead. I should have wished for something more substantial. Notfast, you bring wonderful gifts and I while can't reciprocate I do greatly appreciate it. ?

Yeah I think most people can block it out, I have to mute the television. It's an illness.

Back to Britton for the world. ♥️

    • Hard to argue with a lot of your points. He's had two 1-1 and should have taken Witt over Rutschman and has a poor defensive second baseman with hitting issues with his other one.  He gets one more offseason with bigger pocketbooks. He gets one more year to put up or shutup.
    • Baseball is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. A. Bartlett Giamatti, Take Time for Paradise: Americans and Their Games
    • Let him walk. That pop up with the bases loaded and no outs sort of encapsulates the entire postseason for us. It was a pathetic effort and we ended up with squat in a clutch situation.  The HRs are cool but he doesn't hit for average and is only getting older. And he sucks in the playoffs. Goodbye.
    • Is Brandon Hyde going to pull out the “ we just need to do a better job” boilerplate or is he coming up with another way to say the same thing?    It’s easy to be snarky right now. There’s choking under pressure and there’s whatever the team has done over the last couple months. “Choke” doesn’t begin to cover the gag they threw up the last two nights when the season was on the line. Fans leaving the stadium right now aren’t just disappointed, many of them feel betrayed. Hard to blame them. I wonder if Elias might feel the same way.
    • I just can't comprehend how the 2023 team PLUS Corbin Burnes devolved into this pile of excrement. This may be a .500, non-playoff team next year. I didn't expect any sort of magical run this playoff season, but I didn't think they'd get embarrassed AGAIN on the national stage.
    • Better yet, where was Adam Frazier when we needed him most.....oh, wait, in the other dugout.    Bases loaded, no one out....sure could have used that guy that Hangouters had to jettison out of here favor of Jackson Holliday.
