I really don't see Hosmer coming to Baltimore. But if he does, it will probably be a 1 year 6 mil contract. I'd rather give Brandon Belt that contract

Would be for the league minimum.

Hosmer probably wants to be promised every day playing time. That’s hard to envision on this team. Mountcastle has a pretty firm grasp on the 1B job and between Rutschman (the type of catcher who will DH a lot) and Santander (the type of outfielder that will DH a lot) there isn’t much room at DH either.

At 3.7 rWAR in the last 5 years, Hosmer is not in a position to dictate his playing time.

Conforto signed for 2/36. Hosmer would cost the league min. For our needs, and what is left in FA, Hosmer is the best value and fit. I don’t think he steals ABs from Stowers, but instead provides depth in case of injury. Hays and Santander both were healthy last year. Plus, we could save money and potentially give that to Wacha.

Yeah, this also occurred to me. It really does feel like a strong possibility and would be the dingleberry cherry on top of the s*** sundae that is this offseason.

To me, provides depth in case of injury is someone you can stash at AAA and bring up if someone gets hurt.  It doesn't mean someone that has to stay on the AAA roster.

Yeah, but right now those players are Cordero and Cameron. We need a quality 4th bench player and to replace some of the “depth” we lost with Nevin and Diaz.
