No touchy-feely help-is-on-the-way article should excuse the fact that this continues to be a Losing franchise in the worst sense of the word. Watching Andino on the end of that cut off was mind-blowing. DT’s continued lead touch with the bullpen is infuriating. STILL the most appropriate question: Is DT the guy we want when Wieters starts the parade in June? At some point we need to instill the basics of winning rather than a steady stream of empty bromides. The usual hostages will say it’s the players and they’ll be wrong. We have enough talent to make progress. Last night was a metaphor for laughable regression.

I wasn't at the game, but I thought Ray had plenty of time to get ready. They just showed him on tv late, and mentioned something about giving him more time for a few more warm ups. Granted, Kranitz and Trembley have done this numerous times already this year -- not getting up a reliever until the batter before they want him to come in.

However, if it was on short time, it should have been a guy to get a ground ball, as it was 1st and 2nd with only one out. Everyone had Monday off, so everyone was rested. Is Ray more of a GB guy than Johnson? I don't really think so, though he did throw one, which was in turn booted. I think part of problem is the fully distinct set roles that are set on the team by Trembley and Kranitz. There is usually no give in those roles, which are as follows (and current)...

Hendrickson -- long relief/mop-up if losing

Bass -- long relief/mop-up if winning (earned his way out of the new Hendrickson role)

Walker -- LOOGY/full inning if work needed

Ray -- 6th/7th/8th if losing, sometimes if winning depending on rest of others (has taken Sarfate's old spot)

Baez -- 6th/7th if winning, sometimes if losing depending on rest of others; 8th if Johnson not rested

Johnson -- 8th

Sherrill -- 9th/Closer

Unless someone just blows one night, there is not going to be much change. No one will pitch over two days in a row, unless absolutely necessary or low pitch count from the two previous days.

Don't blame the messenger, just thought everyone would like to know the roles.

Baez struggling. Walker ready. DT sticks with Baez for (lefty) Cano. Cano hits rope. Walker replaces Baez and gets lit up. Here's what can be inferred: DT burned by book (Cano hitting .500 vs Walker) for nth time. He ("player's manager") also makes explicit the fact he doesn't trust Walker in an intuitive spot (old news?). Forget Walker's ensuing performance, how bout "You know Cano hits you good, now get the f***er!" There is no way to tell how gut pans out, because we rarely if ever see it. No way I want DT managing a must-win series.

I'm sorry, but this post is completely incomprehensible to me. Clearly it is anti DT in tone but beyond that I'm lost. Instead of trying to be clever, why not try simple declaritive sentences to say clearly what you mean. :confused:

I think what he is trying to say is that the sentence structure didn't make any sense. Yes, they were all sentences, however all together it just seemed a little like gibberish with no clear content or statement -- key word being clear.

I actually felt a little sorry for Eaton. He was out there on that mound getting beat up by a lineup that would be declared illegal in most states, all the while knowing that his pitching career....at least as an Oriole....was probably over. But, he took it like a man.

Some may say if your Oriole pitching career is over then chances of him catching on with someone with a pitching staff are pretty thin:D

      Yep. The roster is kind of a hot mess right now. It's very awkwardly put together and when our veterans aren't performing, it really shows the flaws of the rest of the roster.  There's just an awkward vibe about how they are going about things this year, despite the overall good record. It's tough to put a finger on. The offensive approach has taken a pretty wild step back. I can't imagine they are preaching anything different than last year, especially when it's not working. It's up to the players, ultimately. If I'm Hyde I would be having a closed door meeting and having some frank discussions. If nothing else just to try and shake them up mentally.  Losing to Lynn and Gibson is basically unacceptable with the offensive potential this team has.

      Great/informative read. I use to say, "For ten cents and a cup of coffee, I could find 100 people to tell me what is wrong." Hard part is finding someone to tell you how to fix it. Do we just have patience and hope it fixes itself or do we hope the Orioles make major changes now? Earlier post stated emphatically we WOULD make the playoffs. Can I still count on that? This offensive funk has been going on a while now let alone a bullpen problem. Talk me off the ledge.

      Mullins should be sent down or if he’s hurt and trying to play through it, he should be on the IL. Santander, who hasn’t been good most of the year, is 1-11 since banging his knee. Putting him in the field yesterday may give us a thought they think he’s improving.  Let’s see how he feels today. Putting him on the IL and being able to send him on a short rehab may be a good thing. Hays is what he is right now.  He was looking good as soon as he got back but that seems to have been short lived. Right now, the team isn’t treating him like the superstar Pickles thinks he is, so that’s good.  With Mayo out and Holliday still working on things, that leaves Kjerstad and Norby. I know the adjustment period is rough for this minor leaguers right now and June is going to be a b!tch of a schedule but I would like to see at least HK back up and I want to see Stowers playing more often. Things can’t really get any worse, so let’s use these guys. Shane Mayo got hurt…maybe he would be up.

      I live in LA and have heard and seen a lot of things from Trevor Bauer that would give me the creeps if we ever even considered signing him. Stong pass.

      The talk about Kramer just doesn't make sense to me.  Does he have the occasional klunker, yes.  He is slotted though as a #4 or 5 pitcher in a rotation putting up pretty good stats along the way.  No team has 5 studs and truthfully I would love for someone to find 5 #5's on MLB pitching staffs that would be a consensus better option than Kremer.  He shows up every 5th day, keep you in games and eats innings.  It wasn't that long ago that a Kremer type would be looked at as an ace of an Orioles rotation. To your point of course I would love to have 5 Burnes types to go into the playoffs so that way you have an ace ready to go in a must win game.  That really isn't realistic though.  Kremer is solid for the role we need him for and truthfully we have way more concerns on our roster than him.
