You may be right...I don't know if this has been posted, but rotoworld posted this news today, from LA Times...Colletti seems really apprehensive about trading kemp

No mention of Andruw Jones?

I'm sure Colletti isn't crazy about trading Kemp, but "you gotta spend money to make money, Lou."

What's mostly lost in all of this Kemp talk is that Andre Ethier is a heckuva good ballplayer himself.
Agreed, he doesn't have the upside Kemp does, but both are already pretty well established as 800-850 OPS guys right now. Kemp could very well end up being a 900+ OPS guy, and I don't think Ethier quite has that ceiling, but we certainly won't be unhappy with what Ethier would do in Baltimore, even if we regret not getting Kemp if/when he's pounding out 900 OPS seasons like Jason Bay.

I still think Kershaw + Ethier is a much better package than Kemp + McDonald, although both are fantastic.

The O's want 4-1 for Bedard from the Dodgers.

How about Ethier, Xavier Paul, McDonald & Hu

(No Kemp/Kershaw/LaRoache maybe gets a yes response)

We are building for the future correct ?

Then try to get Wood & (pitcher)

At that point see what Roberts brings.

You boost the Farm system get a few good ML ready talents

I sure it is tougher than that, but hey that is why I am not a GM

Kemp or Kershaw is a necessity, IMO. I don't care if we don't get both, just so long as we get one.

I'd jump on either of those deals.

I'm sure Colletti is aware of what he's going to have to part with to land Bedard.

I think it'd be fruitful to discuss the strength of a Mariners or Reds package for Bedard as well. I know we've done it in other threads, but that might be a reality we'll face in the coming weeks.

Anyone like Adam Jones more than Kemp?

How does Cincinnati stack up?

Then I assume that bigbird's source shouldn't be concerned whether Angelos will approve a trade of Roberts.

It could mean that Angelos and MacPhail have established specific parameters within which Roberts may be traded, such as after Bedard and Tejada are traded or maybe even more specifically to the Cubs, if the package becomes Pie plus a solid pitching prospect or something along those lines.

    • We'll see good SP opponents anyway, but notable winter player friendly contract Frankie Montas is already on the IL for them. Some of how the Orioles outplayed the Yankees so far this week was the athleticism on the bases contrast, and in Cincinnati the Orioles will see talent like theirs in that part of the game.   From a BP feature the other day on the Reds run production: Through this weekend’s games, the Reds were 25th in MLB in DRC+, but ninth in runs per game. That’s partially because of their aggressive and fruitful baserunning, but that stops far short of explaining it. The Reds have more stolen bases than any other team in the league, and they attempt to go first-to-third on singles more often than any other team in the league.  They’re tied with the Orioles for the league leadership, bringing around 38% of the runners who get on base. Last year, the league-average in that statistic was 31%, and the O’s led the league at 35%. Yes, the Reds’ speed helps them convert opportunities into something tangible. They’ve reached base on 15 errors this year, most in MLB, and a lot of those have been because they hit ground balls (eighth-most in MLB) and run well enough to compel opponents to rush things.
    • Nice post.  Guess that's why they call you Sanity Check.
    • I am promoting Webb to thread status.  Two dominant outings against the Yankees this week. 2.2 IP, no baserunners, 6 K's. And in only 28 pitches across the two games. His ERA is now below 2. I'm not sure he's really that good, but I think he has one of the most secure spots in the pen right now.
    • Imagine scoring 6 runs in 4 games, and also giving up a home run to Ryan McKenna.
    • The NL Central has been a bit of a trouble spot for us lately.   We are 8-13 against that division since the start of last year, losing 6 of 7 series (the one exception being Pittsburgh at Camden Yards last May when Cedric hit for the cycle and Wells pitched a gem). Weather could be a bit of an issue with a chance of rain Friday evening (though less than during the day there) and again Sunday afternoon. Will be weird seeing a Reds team without Joey Votto on it.   Last year he didn't play for the Reds was 2006.   Chris Ray was the Orioles closer that year; Jeff Conine was the starting LF.
    • Os have struggled against the NL central. It’s time to teach the central about the east.
    • His big AA debut and Povich's good bad game resulted in Weston taking a small 26-25 K-bb lead among Orioles minors length guys.
