Kind of a sour taste in my mouth about this one, as we blew three-run leads both of the last two games. I would have loved to have finished that stretch at least 5-5. At least the four wins all came vs. Boston and Toronto, so there's that.

7-0 followed by 0-3. Pretty good stretch that could have been better. It would be nice to string together a couple of ten-game periods where we have a winning record in each.

With today's loss bringing us to 53-37 and 72 games remaining, then just going 37-35 takes us to 90 wins. 41-31 the rest of the way takes us to 94 which is what I predict.

I skipped the previous ten, when we also went 5-5. We're kind of treading water right now, but we haven't had a losing ten-game period in the last 40 games, so that's good.

That's 23-17 over their last 40 games ........ that's 1/4 of the season.

That's not bad. That (23-17 over 40 games) is a 93-win pace for a full season.

The four-game series with Oakland really hurt us in this ten-game stretch. The O's definitely need to pick up the pace.

It's now been 40 games since we had a winning 10-game stretch. This was a weird one -- 3 straight losses, 3 straight wins, 3 straight losses and 1 win.

The next 10 are huge, with Toronto looming next followed by New York at home and Tampa on the road. Gotta win 6-7 of those.

Interestingly, we never posted consecutive ten-game stretches of 7-3 or better in 2016, but we did do it in 2015.    That just goes to show, even a 20-game hot streak only takes you so far.    Consistency and avoiding any prolonged losing streaks are the key to being a playoff team.
