Elias says the Orioles had actually started talking to Hicks before Cedric's injury.

“Obviously, when you’re doing it then it’s a little bit more from a depth mindset,” Elias said. “When the injury happened yesterday, it totally accelerated the focus from our standpoint.”

Hicks is terrible, and this is an awful signing. Hopefully it winds up being a faiily inconsequential move to provide emergency depth, and Cowser gets the call fairly soon.

I'm relieved that it's Hays in CF tonight - I thought we were going to see McKenna every day in CF for several games.

Figure Hicks will play tomorrow. Otherwise two weeks between playing if he does get in Friday.

I'm not defending the Hicks move at all, but why would anyone want to see Mateo anywhere but SS if he plays at all? His last 30 games OPS is a whopping .468. Not really a guy you make a position up for.

Because it means one of the propsects gets called up to play some INF. I would rather see that than see a scrub like Hicks playing CF.

I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse
