They average 32,047/game vs 29,749 here.

More corporate season ticket types. Lawyers and lobbyists who can afford to buy packages. The Nats have drawn 40,000 only 7 times compared to the Orioles' 10, but they have never drawn below 20,000 compared to the Orioles' 12 times. That smacks of a larger season ticket base for the Nats and more reliance on walk-up for the Orioles.

In 1997 we drew 3.6 million. We're a far cry from that.
Well that's kind of a bummer...

It should be noted in 1997, OPACY was a mere 5 years old. I'll have to check attendance records later on for 1992 and beyond, but pretty sure the newness of OPACY was a factor in that 3.6 million attendance. Plus better economic times than we are in now (and the past couple of years).

EDIT to add:

Year ▾	W	L	Finish	Playoffs Attendance Attend/G	Rank Est. Payroll	1992	89	73	3 3,567,819	44,047	2nd of 14	$23,891,667	1993	85	77	3 3,644,965	45,000	2nd of 14	$29,096,500	1994	63	49	2 2,535,359	46,097	2nd of 14	$38,849,769	1995	71	73	3 3,098,475	43,034	1st of 14	$43,942,521	1996 88	74	2	Lost ALCS (4-1) 3,646,950	44,475	1st of 14	$54,599,315	1997	98	64	1	Lost ALCS (4-2) 3,711,132	45,816	1st of 14	$58,516,400	1998	79	83	4 3,684,650	45,490	1st of 14	$72,525,634	1999	78	84	4 3,433,150	42,385	2nd of 14	$80,805,863	2000	74	88	4 3,297,031	40,704	2nd of 14	$82,347,435	2001	63	98	4 3,094,841	38,686	4th of 14	$74,279,540	2002	67	95	4 2,682,439	33,117	3rd of 14	$64,493,487

1994 (2.5 million) and 1995 (3.09 million) were, of course affected by the strike ('94) and lockout ('95). Using attendance/game, for 81 home games those attendance numbers could have been 3.5+ million each of those seasons (3.7 million for '94, 3.4 million for '95).

2002, the bloom was off the rose. OPACY was in her 11th season, and the O's were in the midst of a 5th straight losing season. Even with only 2.6 million in attendance, the O's still were 3rd out of 14 AL teams.

Any guess on attendance for the N.Y.Y. series?
106,388.
Yesterday's rain-out throws somewhat of a monkey wrench into the predictions/expectations of the attendance for this 3-game series.
71,605 through the first 2 games.

GAME ONE:Oo 34,018

GAME TWO:O. 37,587

The Orioles will have to draw exactly 34,783 for the make-up game on September 12th for my guesstimate to come to fruition.

Come on, 34,783 ...... in spite of the monkey-wrench thrown in there by the rain-out.

I was just looking to see whether seats were available for this game. To my surprise, there are thousands of seats available. I realize it's a day game, but still thought a lot of folks would be snapping these up.

If attendance is within 1,000 of your prediction, plus or minus, your next game at OPACY is on me.

31,871 for the 1:00 pm game

Sorry, Patrick, you're a little short. Not a terrible crowd for an afternoon game, but I still thought we'd do better. Maybe the fact that we have a 10-game lead has the fans a bit complacent. When I looked at the ticket situation for today, tonight's game had far fewer seats available, so I'd still expect 40,000+ for the night game.
