Should Santander be traded this offseason?

Remember when it was legit discussion about a Santander for Snell trade?!? @Sports Guy would have been an absolute legend if he had willed that trade to fruition!

As I kept saying, he is far better than his numbers were showing.  His second half ERA is 2.42 and FIP is 2.02.  High K rate, BB rate way down and HR rate down.  Averaging just under 6 IP per start since the AS break.

Wish we had had him for the second half run and for 2023.  Maybe they can still get him in the offseason.

Shockingly, GMs are smart and don't give up on players that underperform for a couple months. It was a solid idea though.

If we want to win make the playoffs next year then we just don’t have the luxury of trading Santander. Even if he primarily DHs. Things could change around the deadline, but I don’t even think “selling high” this offseason brings back enough to justify it. 
 

We’ve pieced together a pen, with depth options in the minors. We’ve pieced together a rotation, with GR up on OD and Means at some point, also with depth in the minors, but we don’t have a 30 HR MOO bat to replace him. 
 

Trading for depth is nice, but a some point you need that quality of quantity.
