Dropped into the juice box (Minute Maid Park) Saturday, Cubs at Astros, as part of an intra-state vacay from Austin.

Knew Newhan was toiling at Astros' AAA Round Rock, had no idea he'd been called up.

Pinch-hitting to lead off the bottom of the 7th, he smacked the first pitch onto the flagpole ground. Scored on next batter's fielder's choice. Led to the chasing of Zambrano. Didn't take the field afterward.

So to David Newhan and Hanger-Outers who harbor positive sentiments toward him, good for him.

That's cool. I still can't think of him without picturing the grotesque way he broke his leg sliding into second a few years back. :eektf:

I was surfing EI and tuned into that game just as Newhan hit his triple. Nice touch of nostalgia there, especially since he did it against the Cubs.
