03/25 - vs. NYY ...TV GAME!!

He only pitched 123.1 innings last season so at most he will get 153.1 innings this year. It would be irresponsible for the O's front office/managerial staff to allow him to exceed the "30innings more than prior year" rule.

Edit: He pitched 11 innings in AAA before his callup therefore he should be allowed to pitch 164 innings this year.

I'm not sure you can be this strict with Bergesen. He threw 165 innings in 2008, and his season ended last year for reasons having nothing to do with his arm. I wouldn't be surprised if the O's treat 165 as his "base" and let him throw 190 or so if he is being effective in September and not showing signs of major wear and tear.

Fair enough.

Top of the 6th, Bergesen still in.

Nick Johnson hits a chopper to SS, thrown to 1st. 1 out.

Teixeira flies out to RF. 2 out.

Bergesen gets ahead of A-Rod with fouls. 0-2 count. A-Rod takes it back to a full count, takes a walk. 2 out, runner on 1st.

Bergesen out, Castillo in. 5.2 IP, someone else will have to find his line.

I like how Castillo changes arm angles from 3/4 submarine to 3/4 over hand. Very tough to pick up.

I wonder how effective a Castillo/Meredith specialist combo could be? That's a lot of different release points.

5.2 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 0 R (so far), 2 K's. Great outing. 76 pitches, 51 for strikes. If this was a real game, he'd have had a good shot of going 8 IP.

Bergesen was awesome all day, he really did have a complete game in the works if this was a regular season game. Frankly, I think he has 3 or 4 CGs in him this year. He had one last year before he was shut down with his leg injury.

Yeah, glad he was able to come back after the delay. Good to see a solid start against this Yanks line-up, ST or not.

They were probably sick of seeing him on the mound.

Mickolio's in, two quick outs. last one was a K, not sure about the previous. Hazards of watching at work.
