Top prospects hitting slumps

Seems like most of the top hitting prospects are in a hitting slump from Low-A on up.

Stowers: .179/.233/.282/.515, 1 HR, 3-17 BB-K in 43 PAs (10 games)
Henderson: .103/.167/.179/.346, 1 HR, 3-11 K-BB, 42 PAs (10 games)
Jones:  .160/.222/.280/.502, 2 HR 3-17 K-BB in 55 PAs (15 games) 
Neustrom: .212/.333/.394/.727, 1 HR 6-10 in 39 PAs (10 games)

Prospects doing ok:

Westburg: .250/.362/.500/.862 3 HR, 5-15, BB-K in 47 PAs (10 games)
Haskin: .324/.375/.514/.889 9 HR, 2-7 K-BB in 40 PAs (10 games)

We’ve talked a lot about last years non-existent season and it’s impacts on arms, but I’m wondering if a lot of the hitters are hitting a wall

Yeah that was my thought. This is the longest season many of these guys have ever seen.

Gunnar’s has been particularly pronounced.   Most of the others just seem like typical variation that occurs over the course of a long year.

The only good news in Gunnar's stats at Aberdeen was his increased walk rate, but besides a little hot spell in mid July, he's really struggled on offense and defense at Aberdeen. He's young but his results are not what you want to see from a guy you hope is an impact player one day.

Well, two weeks ago I was feeling very optimistic about his bat.   He’d battled all the way up to .800 OPS after a very slow start, so I was very encouraged.  This last stretch has been horrendous but he still has time to get it together again.  

Defensively, I’m more worried.   He’s been erratic to say the least.   It’s not too unusual for a HS kid in his first full season of pro ball, but he’s certainly raising questions about whether he can stick on the dirt.

The good news defensively is that he has plenty of range for a third baseman, can come in good, and has plenty of arm. He just needs to get his hands more consistent and maybe if the Orioles topped jerking him back and forth and let him focus on 3B, he would fine moe consistency.

This has gotten so bad that even MASN All Access podcast was running through all the guys who are struggling and sounding rather critical/dour about things. Which was kind of refreshing to hear honestly. But yeah, it's rough out there right now...

Stowers homered in his first AB for Bowie tonight.  Maybe that will knock him out of his recent funk.
