It's hard not to get too excited over watching Rodriguez. He looks like a legitimate TOR guy and just needs to stay healthy.

I remembered the boards reaction to the pick when it happened, but yesterday I wanted to refresh  my memory so I went back to the pick in the Amateur Draft section.

People were mostly not happy.  A lot of comparisons to Hobgood in terms of the "reach".  If anyone's curious to read through, it's page 9 I believe.

Needless to say, it seems very apparent Rajisch did well with this pick.

I honestly can't remember what my reaction was.  IIRC, I think I wanted them to take Liberatore, who many felt would be a much higher pick but fell due to sign ability concerns.

I’m pretty sure I made a comment that Rajsich had gone out on a limb, as his predecessor did with Hobgood, and he would be judged on that pick.    There’s nothing wrong with going with someone you prefer to the consensus picks, but if you are wrong, people won’t forget it.   Well, it appears Rajsich was right, so good for him so far.   I’ll still wait until Rodriguez is excelling in the majors before declaring that the pick was a genius move.

I looked back where I commented and I did say I preferred Liberatore but I also said he was worthy of the selection based on talent.  I wasn’t a fan that he was a helium pick.

The results, the four plus pitches which he commands, and the uptick in velo this season mainly. I too am not super knowledgeable about the other top guys, but there is industry buzz that Grayson has firmly put himself in that group, maybe at the head of it. That’s what I was basing my post off of. Should have cited a source, but there’s one a few posts back and there was another a couple days ago.

And I’m actually legitimately curious to  see where Sir Keith Law will rank him when he comes out with his updated list. He was far lower on Grayson than every other prognosticator if I remember correctly.

Yea I’m behind the paywall too.  But nice to see him ascending up the list.  Jumping Gore is impressive.
